For Faculty

Welcome to Bridgewater College! Library staff is happy to help you as you transition to this new position and during your entire time here at BC! These first five steps are recommended as you are building your courses:

1. Search Discovery for Library Materials

Search through the library's catalog, Discovery, to see the resources we have available through the Forrer Learning Commons' collections. Included in our collections are books, ebooks, CDs, musical scores, DVDs, media equipment, archival materials, and more. These resources are available to support your teaching and learning!

2. Place Course Texts on Reserve

Already know what you'll be using as a course text? Place the title on course reserve by filling out the form found at libguides.bridgewater.edu/coursereserves or by emailing circulation@bridgewater.edu. If we don't already have the book in our library's collection, we are happy to purchase a copy for the reserves room.

3. Use Scanning Services for Course Readings

Have a couple of journal articles or book chapters that you'd like your students to read that are currently in print? Email ill@bridgewater.edu to arranged a time to drop off your physical materials. Vickie will do her best to work with you scheudule to get the scans done for you when you need them.

Once you've connected with Vickie, you can drop your book or journal off at the Circulation Desk, and we'll be happy to do the scanning for you and email PDFs directly to you for uploading to Canvas.

4. Connect with Learning Services

Arrange for a librarian to visit with your students to discuss research and information literacy topics. Library instruction is tailored to the needs of your students based on the assignments that you have created for them.

If you don't have course time for a library session, Learning Services is able to create course-specific research guides, asynchronous Canvas modules, and instructional videos. Email research@bridgewater.edu for more information or visit the Learning Services page here.

5. Ask Your Library Liaison Anything!

Your library liaison is here to help with any questions, whether it's a purchase request for the library's collection, information on library services, or anything else. If your liaison isn't able to answer your question, we are able to connect you to the right person!
