Taylor's Picks: The Best of Children's and YA Lit

staff picks logoHere’s what they don’t tell you: kid’s books aren’t just for kids. When I hit a certain age, maybe 16, I decided kid’s books and YA books were no longer for me. I was an adult now, so I was to read adult books. Transitioning to the adult section of the library, I focused on classics and contemporary literature, but I failed to venture back to the children’s section to explore.

Fast forward about seven years, and I had the distinct pleasure of rediscovering the joy of reading a children’s book, even as an adult. As an employee of the public library, it helped immensely to have a knowledge of books that were on the summer reading lists so that I could recommend particular titles based on a child’s interests. That task bloomed into a true love for children’s books and YA books that sent me to reading some of the titles you see here. These books are some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
