Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

Call Number: 823.8 B8693w, 2003

Emily Brontë's novel of the moors, 19th c. Yorkshire, and a tumultuous relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine. Wikipedia notes, "it was controversial because of its unusually stark depiction of mental and physical cruelty, and it challenged Victorian ideas about religion, morality, class and a woman's place in society". We have several versions of this novel, as well as ebooks.

The Odyssey by Homer

Call Number: 883.01 H766o, 1967a

The never-ending, okay 10-year, voyage filled with danger, monsters, and adventure. We have several copies of this colossal classic ... even ebooks.

I, Robot by Isaac Asimov

Call Number: 813.54 A832i, 1950

Calling Asimov fans ... The three laws of Robotics: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm 2) A robot must obey orders givein to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Another Brontë, this time Charlotte ... another fabulous writer and book. Jane Eyre (originally published as Jane Eyre: An Autobiography) of the bildungsroman genre, Jane Eyre follows the emotions and experiences of its title character, including her growth to adulthood, and her love for Mr. Rochester, the byronic master of fictitious Thornfield Hall.

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

Another one that we'll get for you through interlibrary loan. This brilliant novel tells the true confessions of one of Japan's most celebrated geisha. Lamb by Christopher Moore
