Introduction

Once you have located sources for your project, you will want to make sure that they are used responsibly. This guide will help you use create Chicago style citations.

For this class, you will be using Notes-Bibliography Style. This style uses:

  • Footnotes or endnotes
  • A bibliography

Citing a Journal Article in Chicago Notes-Bibliography Style

Notes:

In your note, cite the specific page number of the article from which you have quoted. For example:

1. Richard S. Kim, "Inaugurating the American Century: The 1919 Philadelphia Korean Congress, Korean Diasporic Nationalism, and American Protestant Missionaries," Journal of American Ethnic History 26, no. 1 (2006): 70, http://www.jstor.org/stable/27501780.

Bibliography:

In your bibliography, cite the page range for the whole article. Make sure to include the permalink for the resource that you've consulted, as you have found this title online. For example:

Kim, Richard S. “Inaugurating the American Century: The 1919 Philadelphia Korean Congress, Korean Diasporic Nationalism, and American Protestant Missionaries.” Journal of American Ethnic History 26, no. 1 (2006): 50–76. http://www.jstor.org/stable/27501780.
