BC Ready-Set-Go: 2021

Two contests; one purpose—to highlight and recognize student talent & skills.

Ready-Set-Go Design Contest 2021

Eligibility: All currently enrolled Bridgewater College Students, part-time or full-time, in either undergraduate or graduate programs. 
Entry Number: an individual or team size of two students. A participant may only enter one time either as a participant or on a 2-person team in a contest. 
Date: The Design Sprint and Video contests start with the release of the contest theme on MyBC on January 25. 
Judging: The winners for each contest will be chosen by a panel of judges representing the Center for Engaged Learning, the Master of Arts Digital Media Strategy program, and the Forrer Learning Commons.

Design Sprint

Create a winning design that reflects all of this year’s contest rules listed below to be featured on a limited edition t-shirt and used in a social media blast as the Design Sprint Champion for “BC Ready-Set-Go 2021”  and a winner-take-all prize of $500 for the design.  
The design must include all of these elements:

  • A theme to be depicted in the design will be announced on January 25 on MyBC and signals the start of the sprint. The  Design Sprint lasts 5 days. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on January 29.
  • The text: “BC-Ready-Set-Go 2021”
  • Using word(s) from the College’s Motto: Goodness, Truth, Beauty, or Harmony;
  • A visual reference of an eagle.
  • The list of contest sponsors:
    • Center for Engaged Learning
      • The Class of 1968 Endowment
    • Master of Arts Digital Media Strategy Program
    • Forrer Learning Commons
  • Submissions must include: 
    • Completed entry with accepting the “Entry, Release, and Consent Form"
    • A PDF of your design with accompanying exportable .ai or .eps file formats of the design. 

Winner(s) will be announced on Friday, February 5.

Video Contest

Why I love Bridgewater College Video  
First Prize: $500  |  Second Prize: $200  |  Third Prize: $100

The video must include all of these elements:

  • The video must depict the title of the contest and the announced theme that will be announced on January 25 on MyBC and signals the start of both the Design Sprint and Video Contest. 
  • Using word(s) from the College’s Motto: Goodness, Truth, Beauty, and Harmony;
  • And a reference—visual, verbal, or otherwise—of an eagle.

All video entries must be:

  • At least 1 minute up to 3 minutes in length.
  • Only 1 video per person or team will be judged.
  • Video resolution should not exceed 720p.
  • Videos should include closed captioning.
  • Suitable for all viewing audiences.
  • Videos must not violate privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights.
  • All music must be used legally: use your own music, submitted with written permission from the artist or use music in the public domain.
  • Following the above rules, submissions may use still images, text and/or music to convey a clear and coherent message or story in the video.
  • Submissions containing libel or slanderous content will be automatically disqualified.
  • Must follow the complete rules and guidelines for the contest. 

Video submissions must include : 

  • Completed entry with accepting the “Entry, Release, and Consent Form"

Video Contest Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on March 25. Winners will be announced Tuesday, April 6.

Entries

To enter either contest and submit your entries:

  1. Create a Box folder in your Box drive entitled “ReadySetGo2021.”  
  2. Place all required elements to the contest you are entering in this folder. 
  3. Go to: https://bridgewater.libwizard.com/f/rsg2021, submit your entry and a shared link to your box folder. No changes may be made to content folder once submitted. 

Winners of both contests may be featured on the Forrer Learning Commons website, on college communication channels, and preserved on the BC Digital Commons.
