Course Reserves Policy

  • All reserve items must remain in compliance with US Code 17 of U.S. Copyright Law. In particular, copies for a specific course cannot be placed on reserve for consecutive academic semesters for the same instructor without documented copyright permission.
  • Reserve material forms are available at the circulation desk.
    • Faculty members placing items on reserve should fill out the form and submit it to the circulation supervisor or to the student on duty at the circulation desk.
    • Faculty members who leave personal copies of materials on reserve are encouraged to use the form as a means of suggesting that the library should purchase the title to its permanent collection. The process of identifying reserve materials for coursework contributes to collection development initiatives.
  • The Circulation Supervisor will process reserve items as soon as possible, in a time frame not to exceed two business days from the date of receipt.

What can be placed on reserve?

Any material - books, DVDs, CDs - except for journal articles may be placed on reserve. The materials can be from the library's collection or can be your personal copies.

  • Materials must adhere to copyright law
  • Journal articles cannot be placed on reserve through the library. Instead a link to the article may be placed on Moodle, or a PDF can be uploaded into the CMS.
  • Faculty need to fill out our print forms before placing materials on reserve (forms are located at the circulation desk)
  • Faculty who put their personal items on reserve may suggest those titles for library purchase
  • The Circulation Supervisor will process the requests within 2 business days from date of receipt

If you have any questions please review our course reserves policy or contact Helen Semones (hsemones@bridgewater.edu), our Circulation Supervisor.
